You can’t afford to take your cat to the vet: do you borrow the money or try to treat at home?

If your cat has an abcess that has burst & you can’t afford veterinary help, would you borrow the money or just not take it? Would you try to treat at home yourself with something like a burst abcess?

If need be, I would live off of Ramen Noodles for a month and take my cat or dog to the vet before I just let either of them be in pain.

If it was something simple that I felt comfortable handling then yes, it would save time and anxiety (for the animal) by doing it at home.
